Within Ataraxis we combine many years of experience in implementing ERP solutions. We are convinced however that a big shift from on premise ERP solutions towards SaaS based cloud solutions is about to take place in the market. SaaS & cloud are indeed, when one makes the right choices and with the right implementation strategy, a potent mix that has the potential to lower the total cost of ownership of systems and of technical innovation dramatically.
Therefore, our strategy is to surf on the SaaS-cloud.
Cloud computing is the use of complex computing infrastructure (hardware and software) which is available in a remote location and accessible over a network (typically the Internet).
End users access cloud-based applications through a web browser or a mobile application while the business software and user's data are stored on servers at a remote location. Cloud solutions allow companies to avoid (upfront) infrastructure costs. Cloud computing allows enterprises to get their applications up and running faster, with improved manageability and less maintenance, and enables IT to more rapidly adjust resources to meet fluctuating and unpredictable business demand. It thus allows companies to invest their money in projects that strategically differentiate their businesses and that improve their market position.
The business model using software as a service (SaaS) further allows a business to reduce IT operational costs by outsourcing hardware and software maintenance and support to the cloud provider. This enables the business to reallocate IT operations costs away from hardware/software spending and personnel expenses, towards meeting other goals.
Cloud technology in combination with SaaS allow businesses to adapt their IT infrastructure fast and to be more agile and flexible than ever.
Some SaaS providers have grown their solution organically. Some have grown aggressively by acquiring or merging in a fast pace with other SaaS providers. Although the latter strategy might seem a good way for a SaaS provider to expand its offered functionality quickly, we think it does not necessarily result in a well-constructed/engineered solution. If one wants to unleash the true power of SaaS we think there needs to be coherence and consistency throughout the entire application in terms of underlying data model, integration framework, security framework, workflow-, reporting-, and analytical tools.
As a first step in the implementation of our strategy we have analyzed the SaaS market for HR applications and have decided to partner with Workday. We are proud to state that we are now a regional implementation partner for Workday.
